WH CONCERT VENUE @ DISTORTION

The WH Concert Venue is an outdoor classical music venue that we were commissioned to design and project manage by Copenhagen’s Distortion Festival, bringing its first classical music stage to life. Situated in the public park Enghave Parken, the venue sought to informalise the classical concert hall, using the park as a series of enfilade outdoor spaces with different degrees of listening engagement. The immediate space around the stage was articulated as a space for listening with a scaffolding tribune and a line of trees, the following space with seating and a temporary bar and food area, and the park beyond with decorations inviting people passing by on the street to join. During the 6 hours of concerts, the stage had more than 15.000 visitors, many having their first live classical music experience.
