LIGHTWAVES MUSIC SPACE

LightWaves is a concert hall installation and concert series that we were commissioned to design and project lead by the Holstebro International Classical Music Festival in order to engage a local younger audience through participation. The Holsterbro area is close to the sea and with the festival’s theme being The Ocean, the installation itself featured windblown sails familiar to the local community, forming a breaking wave sweeping through the Grade I listed Knudsens Old Theatre Hall.
We mapped the sails with video projections and together with 50 students from schools in Holstebro, assisted in the production of short films that mediated their experiences of selected pieces of music to be played during the festival in a concert series for younger people, including a live-streamed performance of Debussy’s La Mer in collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic.
